PC/104 Shock Rocks are designed to isolate and absorb potentially damaging shock and vibration energy experienced by embedded PC/104 electronics in mobile, vehicular and other high shock/vibration environments. Made of 59 durometer Silastic silicone rubber material, these compact shock isolators successfully reduce G-force frequencies on three axis by up to a factor of 10, increasing reliability and extending system component life in mobile, airborne, shipboard, space, and other demanding embedded computer applications. Shock Rocks have also been implemented in a variety of Curtiss-Wright's PC/104 integrated systems for the military that require MIL-STD-810 survivability.

Designed to attach to the outside perimeter of a 4" x 4" PC/104 Railed Card Cage, Shock Rocks isolate all points of contact between a removable aluminum card cage and its surrounding enclosure. Mounting PC/104 modules within a card cage in this way eliminates the need for traditional PCB standoffs/spacers and provides a much simpler board removal method over PC/104 containers using compression-mounted rubber rails. Depending on the size of the PC/104 card cage, typically eight to twelve Shock Rocks are attached. Up to 14 PC/104 modules can be securely held in a shock/vibration-dampened Railed Card Cage (available in 4.0", 6.0", 8.0" and 12.0" lengths) and placed within one of several Parvus PC/104 enclosures. Packaging PC/104 systems in such a configuration can provide a NEMA environmental protection together with significant shock/vibration tolerance.

For 5x5 or 3/4 ATR Enclosures, two sizes are available - larger shock absorbers that mount on the end of a railed card cage and slightly smaller ones that mount along the rail in the middle of the card cage. Shock Rocks specifically designed for Curtiss-Wright's ZS Rail Mount Enclosures are also available for applications using Quarter-Turn DZUS Fasteners. Custom Shock Rocks of varying durometer can also be manufactured, upon request.

Parvus Bumper Beans are another alternative elastomeric vibration dampening component for card cages, enclosures and boards.
