Application example of six channel high-speed 10GbE and sFPDP recorder
Many of today’s advanced signal intelligence, RADAR, SONAR or image processing applications are standardizing on 10GbE as a method of transferring digitized data between sensors and processor. In addition to recording the data, it often needs to be played back with the same accuracy and timing that it was recorded. To address this need, Curtiss-Wright has designed, configured and delivered a multi-channel, synchronized data recorder. The system supports recording and playback of six-channels of 10GbE data and two-channels of sFPDP (VITA 17.1) data. To address the SWaP constraints typical in today’s applications the system utilizes internal storage drives. This system is easily adaptable (channel count, storage capacity, and packaging) to meet other applications requirements.
The recording and playback system utilizes commercially available industrial servers with internal storage drives. The system has Six 10 Gbps Ethernet channels and two 2.5 Gbps SFPDP channels connected at the back of the Recorder modules. The system utilizes proprietary data capture hardware. This hardware allows the data recorder to capture incoming sFPDP, and 10 GbE data frames and to time-stamp each frame at full (sFPDP) or near full (10 GbE) line rate. With extremely accurate time-stamping prior to storage, your data can later be played back via the channels just like it was recorded. The time-stamping also gives you the accuracy needed for detailed post-analysis of your valuable data. Each Recorder module provides eight removable RAID configured disks at the front panel. In this example application the Recorders are synchronized with a Timing Pulse through cabling at the back of each Recorder.
